Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND) Conference 2010

Inspiring a legacy of excellence for allBaroness Sue Campbell, Chair, Youth Sport Trust

The inspiring confernce  reflected on the networks vision, and looked at how special schools and wider partners were working towards ensuring that all young people, with special needs and disabilities can access excellence in education and sport through the specialism.

What was new to the conference this year:

  • Four Innovation Awards
  • Three Development Pathways around physical and sensory, EBD/MLD and CPLD
  • Regional network tables, for Q&A sessions around local work and impact
  • The opportunity to see the 'proven worth' of businesses and national PE and sport organisations working in conjunction with Special Schools
  • Interactive sessions, facilitated by schools for schools, developed on the feedback from the network.

The conference included the launch a number of new national resources to support special schools to further extend and develop local opportunities.
